Complete Listing of Your Movie Recommendations.

Okay.  So, as requested, you guys completely inundated me with movies to watch.

COMPLETELY.

INUNDATED.

So, to bring some semblance of order to the crazylong list (and because several of you asked me for the list), I laboriously went through all the comments and put the movies in my favorite contraption, my love, my Excel.

So here’s the geeky facts:

There were a total of 111movies suggested, and of those movies, I’ve (shamefully) only seen 40.  Which means my work is cut out for me.

Far and away, the most often recommended movie was The Princess Bride, with 10 nods.  As this is one of my favorites, I have the agree with the consensus and declare this movie to be THE most popular movie of the 80’s and 90’s.  It’s a well-deserved ranking.

So, here are the list of movies you suggested from the 80’s, 90’s, and a few from the 00’s, broken down into what I have and haven’t seen (so that Chris can get to work on my Netflix Queue).  I’m sure I’ll check back in with my reviews of movies that I watch…

The shawshank redemtion should be in spot #1. I can not believe you haven't seen that! In fact, you need to add The Hudsucker Proxy and I.Q. to that list as well.

Thanks for the list, guess I've missed several good ones to, I've only seen 14 of the ones of your "I haven't seen list".
A Few Good Men is probably in my top 5 favorite movies of all time, hope you watch that one soon :)

Oh! I agree with Stacy. The Hudsucker Proxy should be on the list. I loved it!

Well, I've only seen 21 of your "not seen" list and some of those are "I wouldn't waste your time" and some of those are "I hated that movie!" But I will not name names so as not to offend anyone. :) Happy watching. :)

Am I the only one who doesn't understand the hype behind the Princess Bride?

I meet someone every now and then that doesn't like The Princess Bride, but for the most part, everyone worships it..

Get ready to feel depressed for about a week after watching Schindler's List. Or save yourself the funk and just skip it. And maybe skip Fargo, too. You won't be able to get the horrible North Dakota accents out of your head after watching it. (J.C. is looking over my shoulder right now saying that you should skip American Beauty. I agree. You'd hate it.)

Seriously? You've never seen Steel Magnolias? One of my absolute favs. Fried Green Tomatoes is worth a watch as well.

Most of the others on the list (that I've seen) are pure silliness. Mildly entertaining perhaps, but silly. Maybe Newbie will let you off of couch arrest soon so that you don't have to endure all of these movies and you can stay blissfully ignorant! :)

You should add Misery, Of Mice and Men, and Alive to your list. Misery is intense but has some good one-liners. Of Mice and Men is sweetly disturbing. And Alive, well, who can pass up a true story of people eating human butt. In all seriousness, Alive is a sad story and the message of the movie is great. I'm gonna use your list to create my own. Have fun!

Multiplicity
Dream Team
(both of the above starring Michael Keaton)
Father of the Bride I & II

All of the above movies my mom, sister, and I all have watched NUMEROUS times and we STILL roll in the floor when we see them again... all pretty much family-friendly too - enjoy! :) Maybe I should take a pregnancy couch moment or two or three for myself and re-watch some of these...
